You need a German manufacturer for industrial equipment. You Google it. You get KSB.com, Siemens.com, and a bunch of directory sites that all list the same 10 companies. The real German manufacturers, the 3,000+ mid-size companies that build top-quality equipment, are invisible to Google. Here's how to actually find them.
Method 1: VDMA, The German Engineering Association
The VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau) represents 3,600 German engineering companies. Their member directory at vdma.org lets you search by product category, company size, and region. Every member is a legitimate manufacturer, no middlemen, no traders.
Method 2: Industry-Specific Trade Fair Exhibitor Lists
Every major German industrial trade fair publishes its exhibitor list online. These are gold:
- Hannover Messe, All industrial sectors. 4,000+ exhibitors
- EMO Hannover, CNC machine tools, metalworking
- ACHEMA Frankfurt, Pumps, valves, process equipment
- K Düsseldorf, Plastics and rubber machinery
- Fakuma Friedrichshafen, Plastics processing
Go to the fair's website "Exhibitor List" filter by product category. You'll find 50-200 manufacturers per category, most of which have zero SEO presence.
Method 3: German-Language Search
Stop searching in English. The manufacturers you want have German-only websites. Search these terms:
- "[Produkt] Hersteller Deutschland" (manufacturer Germany)
- "[Produkt] Maschinenbau" (mechanical engineering)
- "[Produkt] Lieferant" (supplier)
- "[Produkt] Sondermaschinenbau" (special machine construction, hidden champions use this term)
Method 4: The Shortcut
Skip all of the above. Tell me what you need, and I'll find 3-5 vetted German manufacturers within 48 hours. I know these companies from the inside, I sold to them, I competed against them, I know who's legitimate and who's not.
No cost to you. The manufacturer pays my commission.
